Question: Is Weight a Good Guideline For Teak Furniture Quality?
Answer: As a general rule, the answer is yes, but not always.
Some of our best premium teak furniture is listed as weighing less than competitive teak furniture. There can be huge differences in these weights because of the mositure content in the furniture when it was weighed.
This information came to Patio Port from Warner Levitzson:
Hi Bob,
Question: So What are the Best Guidelines to Determine Premium Teak Furniture Quality?
Answer: There are several answers, but these are some very good guidelines:
Ask the manufacturer---
1) What is the weight of the furniture?
2) What is the average thickness of the teak boards used in this product?
3) What was the moisture content when the product was weighed?
4) Does this product arrive in a natural (unfinished/untreated) state?
